Moog Radial Piston Pumps—RKP pumps—are high performance variable displacement pumps. They are the ideal solution for applications requiring robust performance, low noise, contamination resistant design and unsurpassed reliability. The RKP pumps are available in various sizes, single and multiple configurations, and a wide array of control options and mounting flanges. Key applications include, among others, all stationary hydraulic installations and machines in metal forming, plastics, machine tools, test, and simulation.

The 9-piston rotary group used in the redesigned RKP-II pump (since 2005) has a minimised piston clearance volume leading to lowest pressure ripple and best noise emission behaviour that is characteristic for this design. The RKP-II pump has proven in the field that significant improvements can be achieved while continuing to offer the same high performance, robust control system with sliding stroke ring. The exclusive use of ferrous metals with hardened, wear-resistant surfaces at the part contacts, leads to outstanding longevity of this product line in the field. This design also allows special pump versions for use with HFC and HFD fluids. Moog offers a modular design concept with a range of different compensator options: pressure compensator (F2), combined pressure and flow compensator (R1), fixed displacement (B1), and dual displacement (N1). The RKP-D with a highly dynamic electro-hydraulic control (D1 to D8) can easily be configured with the Moog Pump Configuration Software. Status information, set values and actual values are displayed graphically for quick and easy performance monitoring, trouble shooting and tuning.

Some of the notable characteristics of the second generation RKP-II are

  • fast responsiveness,
  • proven high reliability (rugged and compact) and long life,
  • low noise emission for noise-sensitive applications,
  • low pressure ripple,
  • available in a wide array of sizes (19, 32, 45, 63, 80, 100, 140 and 250 cc),
  • rated at nominal pressures 280 bar (4,000 psi) or 350 bar (5,000 psi)

The standard design permits continuous pressure to 280 bar (4,000 psi) with 350 bar (5,000 psi) peak limit and the high-pressure version is capable of continuous pressures up to 350 bar (5,000 psi) with 420 bar (6,000 psi) peak limit.

The following RKP features are available:

  • Wide range of control options including mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-hydraulic (analog or digital with CANopen or EtherCAT)
  • Suitable for various hydraulic fluids such as mineral oil, transmission oil, biodegradable oil, cutting emulsion, HFA, HFB, HFC, HFD, Skydrol®, and Hyjet®
  • ATEX-certified version available
  • Tandem mounting of auxiliary pumps with SAE-A, -B, and -C flange arrangements (up to 5 pumps)

We at Fluidtech are happy to assist you in determining a suitable RKP pump for your hydraulic application--as well as in meeting all your repair needs for your existing systems.
